Geography of Denmark

The Kingdom of Denmark, being one of the smallest European counties, is made up of Jutland and its 400 surrounding islands. The country is washed by the North Sea (on the west) and Baltic Sea (on the southeast). The closest neighbors of Denmark are Germany, Sweden and Norway. The country is divided into several geographical regions. Two main islands of Denmark are Zealand and Funen. The rest of the islands are smaller and less inhabited.

Gently rolling plains and a coastline, which varies from sandy beaches to small coves and gentle fjords – this is a picture of Danish terrain. The main river of Denmark is Gudena, which is 175 km long. The type of the climate is preferably temperate. The winters are mild and windy while the summers are cool. The tourists emphasize that the most preferable time to travel around Denmark is from May till September.
